Officer Down: Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper John Harris

Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper John Harris died on May 28, 2021, when he was hit by a transport truck while performing a traffic stop on another motorist. Trooper Harris is survived by his wife and children.

Officer Down: Detective Luca Benedetti

San Luis Obispo Police Department Detective Luca Benedetti died May 10, 2021, while executing a search warrant. The suspect, hiding inside, opened fire on two detectives as soon as they entered the home, killing Detective Benedetti.

Officer Down: Stockton Police Officer Jimmy Inn

Stockton Police Department Officer Jimmy Inn gave his life in defence of a stranger on May 11, 2021.

Officer Down: Champaign Police Department Officer Chris Oberheim

Shortly before 3:30am on May 19, 2021, the Champaign Police Department received a call about a domestic disturbance. Officer Chris Oberheim responded, as did a second officer.

Both were met with a hail of gunfire as they exited their squad cars. They responded in kind.

Pennsylvania : 13-year-old boy murders 12-year-old sister

On March 19, 2021, in Limerick Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, 13-year-old Jah’sir Vasquez pointed a loaded firearm at his 12-year-old sister Jasiyah and pulled the trigger. 

“Mom, Jah shot me!” Jasiyah screamed before falling to the ground. 

How did this 13-year-old get his hands on a loaded gun?  

His mother, Daisy Vasquez, asked him to retrieve the gun from her car.

The frantic parents told Officer Mitrisin their 9-day-old baby girl Olivia stopped breathing. 

Today Olivia is alive because of Officer Mitrisin’s quick thinking and excellent training.

LAPD Captain Jonathan Tom’s Home Searched for Stolen Firearms

Almost a year later, on February 18, 2021, LADP detectives searched the home of LAPD Captain Jonathan Tom looking for some of those stolen firearms. Investigators also sought access to Captain Tom’s cell phones and other communications devices “to determine if he or others bought or received any of the weapons that Duenas allegedly stole.”

Officer Down: Chandler P.D. Officer Christopher Farrar

On April 29, 2021, Chandler Police Department Officer Christopher Farrar was struck and killed by a moron driving a stolen vehicle. 

Gilbert Police Officer Rico Aranda was also struck and suffered a traumatic brain injury. He remains in hospital. 

Jonathon Altland was arrested and charged with First Degree murder, the first of many more charges to come.

In a refreshing change from COVID cops arresting pastors for preaching the Gospel, a group of 19 serving and former police officers are challenging the constitutionality of Ontario’s COVID restrictions.

Shooting Range Shrapnel: Even when you do everything right…

When using firearms, even when you do everything correctly on the shooting range, bad things can still happen. When it happened to this unidentified Utah Highway Patrol Lieutenant this past April, I’m grateful his injuries were minor.

Sergeant Chris Ward and Deputy Sheriff Logan Fox responded to the call and attended the residence in question.

As they entered the house Isaac Alton Barnes ambushed the officers. He opened fire and fatally injured both officers.

Firearms are useful, life-saving tools in the right hands. They are also deadly weapons capable of destroying lives when in the wrong hands.

If that means storing your firearms in a gun safe when not in use to prevent them from getting into the wrong hands, so be it.

The life you save could be your child’s.

Illegal Gun Seizures Up Worldwide Despite Drop in Police Interactions

As part of my daily tracking of repeat offenders violating their Firearm Prohibition Orders, I also see developing trends from around the world. One of those trends is the rise in seizures of illegal guns. While I first noticed this in the United States, that trend shows up elsewhere in the world as well.
