On December 28, 2021, Peel Regional Police Service Constable Gurpreet Chohan was arrested and charged with three counts of assault. Those allegations are of crimes committed from 2018 to 2021.

On January 7, 2022, Constable Gurpreet Chohan was arrested again and charged with another count of assault as well as assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000.

The offences are unrelated according to Peel Regional Police.

The first set of charges relate to statements made by two unrelated victims and their past relationships with Constable Gurpreet Chohan.

Constable Gurpreet Chohan is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on March 7, 2022.

Upon completion of the criminal court proceedings, a Police Services Act investigation will follow.
