This bizarre line is from a May 03, 2021, CBC article published as Edmonton Pastor James Coates’ trial for defying COVID restrictions began.

“A Crown prosecutor, whose identity is under a publication ban due to security concerns, called only one witness.”

WHAT?!?!

When I read that the Crown Prosecutor attempting to put Pastor James Coates in prison asked for and was granted a publication ban on his or her identity…. well, honestly, I think I was stunned into wordlessness.

I understand why witnesses might want their identities protected when testifying against criminal gangs and their murderous members, but a Crown Prosecutor fear for his or her life from the congregation of Christian Pastor James Coates or his supporters?

The gross and utter stupidity of such a thought downright gobsmacked me.

I suppose what confounded me even more was the common-sense-crushing realization that a judge actually agreed with this nonsense and granted the unnamed Crown Prosecutor’s motion.

Thankfully the effect that shocked me into wordlessness didn’t last and, almost immediately, I returned to writing this commentary.

I thought a little more about this perplexing scenario and why it likely came about.

This little masked moron (the Crown prosecutor) is probably already terrified of catching COVID – not that some silly cloth mask could possibly prevent COVID’s transmission – and is probably equally afraid of anyone who finds themselves sitting in the defendant’s box.

Perhaps there is an additional assumption that anyone who dares defy a government edict (no matter how stupid, nonsensical or unproven) must be dangerous to everyone they come near.

And not only dangerous in some abstract and distant kind of way, but violently dangerous to anyone unfortunately enough to find themselves in their proximity.

From that asinine and frankly ridiculous vantage point I suppose I can imagine how this pitiful imbecile must feel.

I admit it’s difficult (if not downright impossible) for me to truly put myself in this simpleton’s position because… well… it’s impossible for me to be that fearful of almost anything.  It’s just not in me.

That this particular defendant (Pastor James Coates) shows no fear of COVID, this anonymous Crown Prosecutor’s new god, yet insists on fearing the Thrice-Holy God of the Bible and doing as He commands, well, were I inclined to believe every lie uttered by every mouthpiece of our provincial and federal governments I suppose I’d be terrified of those ‘dangerous’ Christians too.

Think about that for a moment.

Canadians stopped being afraid of the opioid epidemic ravaging our country.

We’ve stopped being afraid of drug dealers and gangs and the violence they shower upon every major city in Canada while, at the same time, we cower in abject terror from a virus with a 99.7% survival rate.

We quarantine healthy people at home while emptying our prisons and detention centres of truly violent criminals so we can make room for Christian Pastors like James Coates.

How anyone can take this nonsense seriously baffles me.

Yet every Canadian judge who hears a Charter challenge of COVID restrictions sides with COVID – without exception – while crushing the rights we are supposedly guaranteed simply because we exist.

The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (a pathetic document, at best), is superseded at every court level by a bad flu.

How did we reach this point of unabashed human stupidity?

Fear. 

Think about that, if you dare.

Think about your own fear and how it governs every move you make.

Think about how you comply with every useless mask order, the ‘public health guidelines’ that contradict themselves every other sentence, with the restrictions on our right to move about our own province, let alone our country, and answer one simple question.

Why?

If what the government says is true and COVID will wipe out humanity of we aren’t locked down, masked and social distanced into crippling mental depression, why isn’t Florida morass of rotting carcasses?

They removed all COVID restrictions last September and, despite the promises of the Doom and Gloom Club, the devastation of Florida simply didn’t happen.

If COVID is as dangerous as BC’s Dr Bonnie Henry would have us believe, why is Texas not a toxic wasteland where mere mortals fear to tread?

Is it possible (and I realize this question may be too difficult for some readers to fully grasp), that Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C’s High Priestess of COVID, and all her provincial counterparts are wrong?

Is it possible that these unelected and unaccountable government officials are:

1. so terrified of COVID they actually believe the blatant stupidity they force upon mere citizens, or
2. evil scum who revel in destroying the lives of their fellow Canadians?

I mean seriously… these simpletons would have us believe COVID-19 will absolutely spread like wildfire in a church holding 50 people but COVID-19 cannot spread at the local Walmart with a 911-person capacity limit?

That doesn’t make sense to even the smallest child, yet grown adults lose their minds at the mere thought of a church refusing to cowtow to the almighty state.

Which brings me back to this gutless government coward of a Crown Prosecutor in Edmonton, Alberta.

In what bizarre reality is a public servant terrified of a Christian Pastor or his congregation?

In what bizarre reality does a judge in a Canadian court of law take this pathetic coward’s plea for anonymity seriously?

What’s next?

Secret courts where we mere citizens are forbidden to know the identity of our prosecutors and judges too?

Pastor James Coates’ rationale is simple.

“We determined that complying with AHS meant non-compliance with God so we decided, ‘OK, well, who would you rather be [in] noncompliance with? God or AHS?’ And I think the choice is pretty simple.”

I stand with Pastor James Coates and every other pastor across Canada who kept their churches open during The Great COVIDicocy.

These are brave and courageous men.

We should thank them for showing us the light of reason and rationality.

Instead, we send gangs of police men and women to tackle them, shackle them and haul them off to the very detention centres we emptied of violent criminals just hours before.

And then, as in Pastor Coates’ case yesterday, a judge hiding behind his COVID mask declares his new god supersedes our Charter Rights and Freedoms.

Alberta Provincial Court Judge Robert Shaigec ruled that Pastor James Coates’ Charter 2b right to freedom of religion and freedom of expression were not violated.

“The question today is whether the purpose, manner, or effect of enforcement of that law on December 2020 violated James Coates’s religious freedoms. The answer is no.”

We mere citizens must find our backbones and our hind legs, stand tall and stop this madness because the political, bureaucratic and judicial classes of this nation will never do so.

There’s too much power to be grabbed.

There’s too much money to be made.

There are too many of us willing to snitch on our neighbours instead of defending them at every opportunity.

Ask any First-Generation immigrant what they think.  I dare you.

But you probably want a fresh set of Depends before you do, because they will tell you things that will singe your tender and delicate sensibilities, guaranteed.

They left their homelands to get away from this stupidity and they are, to a man, woman and child, horrified that we are willingly permitting our government to do it to us here.

They simply do not comprehend how we can be so blind, so stupid and so gullible as to go along withal of the lies, deceptions and fraud.
